Split It has been requested that this page be split to Race, Race Event. The reason for this is because the Race mode is no longer tied solely to Race Events now that they are playable in CT and Quests. Please discuss whether this page should be split on this talk page. |

~ BTD6 Race Event notice description |
Race Event is an event in Bloons TD 6, first released in Version 7.0. Players can compete with other players around the world to pass all rounds as fast as possible on a predefined map with a specific set of other rules. In addition to this is a new function exclusive to this mode unofficially named "Bloon Rusher", in which the next wave of bloons from the next round can be (almost) immediately sent to quicken the pace of completing all forementioned rounds. To prevent unfair records that do not involve strategy (in particular spamming in Super Monkey Storm to win very fast), Powers and premiums such as Double Cash are disabled for all Race Events.
Players can play the event once every 3 hours within the time allotted (typically either 3 or 4 days). This can be sped up for 100 (sometimes less in some events, or a further reduction with Grand Prix Spree). The player will gain higher ranks when they beat the map faster. Players who end up on a certain rank at the end of the event will earn specific rewards.
Since Version 28.0, a player can be incurred a penalty for pausing too frequently. If the player pauses more than once within 25 seconds, they will receive a gradually increasing penalty. This starts at a 2 second penalty and increases by 1 second each time. Usage of any method of pausing while the race timer runs, including checking the upgrade menu, will count towards the penalty. The settings button will show a red "timer" for recording such cooldown.
Version 25.0 adds miniature Race Events designed for a smaller group of players. Once a player completes a race, they will join up to 99 other random players. The 100 players in the group will compete for a smaller subset of additional rewards. This change was made to both improve Race Event rewards and to give casual players more incentive to play by filtering out many try-hard players.
Race Pass[]
- Main article: Race Pass
Since Version 24.0, Race Passes have been added into the game. When used, each race pass grants unlimited entries for a single race week. However, these passes cost real-life money to purchase, costing $3.99 USD and $9.99 USD to purchase 4 Race Passes and 12 Race Passes, respectively. Version 26.0 removed this exclusive payment wall by letting Race Passes be rewarded on every 50th day of the Daily Chest.

Summary[]
Race Events are a fast-paced gamemode where the objective is to beat the rounds as quickly as possible. This is accomplished with the Race Mode's unique mechanic called "Bloon Rusher". This button is to the left of the normal round start/fast forward button, and works similar to sending a round normally, except it can now send additional rounds even while another round is active, a lot like a more extreme version of Apopalypse. There is a 0.2 second delay minimum between each round to limit the effect of macros. Because rounds can be made very dense by sending multiple rounds at once,, high-pierce options that normally see little use, such as Spike-o-pult, Recursive Cluster, Ground Zero become extremely effective, because they can maximize their pierce.
Tips[]
- It is recommended to use high pierce towers instead of safer options typically used in CHIMPs. Spike-o-pult, Druid of the Jungle, and Cluster Bombs are a few options that are very effective in races, while safer tower upgrades like Airburst Darts, Bouncing Bullet, and MOAB Glue are typically not great for getting a good race time.
- Typically, races have Monkey Knowledge enabled. Having key monkey knowledge points such as Military Conscription, More Cash, Mana Shield, and more, can let a player be more aggressive with sending rounds, and is required to get the fastest race time.
- Selling towers to buy a stronger upgrade can be key in getting a good race time. This is notably done when building up to an upgrade more expensive than other towers used in the race, such as upgrading Juggernaut into Ultra-Juggernaut.
- Pausing the game will add a cooldown between pauses, if the game is paused while that cooldown is active, there will be a time penalty added to the player's race time. Thus, pauses should be reserved for when a player needs to prepare a quick burst of actions, such as selling towers to purchase an expensive upgrade.
- Races can be a very effective way to farm experience when the final round is 80 or more, if the race can be beaten quickly easily, and only if the player has a surplus of monkey money or race passes. This can give a lot of experience per time spent if one fast forwards easier parts of the race.

Trivia[]
- Increased lag via Bluestacks app or a lower-end device lowers the speed of the game, making it easier to sell-and-rebuy fast, thus indirectly improving the race time. It is unlikely that this was ever intended.
- Besides allowing for as many race attempts as you wish with a Race Pass, they are also useful for quickly quitting a run and re-entering if you get bad luck.
Race History[]
- During Race 1, which occurred in Version 7.0, the event was removed within the first few hours due to iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XR and other widescreen devices users exploiting the use of Powers when other mobile device models cannot access Powers. The Race Event was re-released on Version 7.1 after the maintenence fixes.
- Race 83 is only available for Version 19.1 and not Version 19.0, mostly due to issues with Race Event medals and a possible Pre-Game Prep stacking exploit. It was also delayed from 20:00 NZST 17th July 2020 until around about 13:00 NZST 18th July 2020.
- Race 129 was slightly delayed by around 12 hours due to Ninja Kiwi sorting out the Version 26.0 update.
- Race 136 has ended one day early and before the official release of Version 27.0. The early ending was announced on Ninja Kiwi's 23rd July 2021 blog.
- Race 143 caused 100+ players to receive all the same first place, but it was reported that Ninja Kiwi failed to receive first place badges for those who didn't make the cut in the Top 100 despite making a tie. This was not the case on Race 107, where Ninja Kiwi manually accounted for tie-breaking. When asked in the Ninja Kiwi blog when the following race's results were announced, Ninja Kiwi made a vague response with how they dealt with the many tie-breakers on Race 143, stating that they did not want to bother with distinguishing hackers from non-hackers and additionally told a vague promise that they won't let those types of situations occur again. (ISAB video 1, ISAB video 2)
- Race 209 was originally another race called "Treet yourself" and had 50 players reach the minimum possible time for that race (1:43.61) within 80 minutes, on December 23 2022, 21:20 NZST, as the race launched during the typical 20:00 NZST bracket. Because of the sheer amount of players reaching minimum time, and maybe the potential to farm tier 0-2 insta monkeys really quickly along with potential to earn upwards of 7 million exp per hour if one has enough monkey money/a race pass, this race was replaced on December 24 2022, 6:45 NZST with "Fightyard", the race originally intended for #210.
- Players were able to farm enough cash to afford the Goliath Doomship, the most expensive Paragon in the game at the time, while still getting the lowest time possible.[1] For similar reasons, players often would end up with so much cash that the Anti-Cheat would flag them because the anti-cheat checks for how much cash a player has remaining.
- Race ??? was supposed to arrive on 10th November 2023, a New Zealand Friday, but is apparantly not released. It also doesn't appear in NK API.
