Shoots faster than normal.
~ In-game description

Fast Firing is the first upgrade of Path 3 for the Sniper Monkey in Bloons TD 6. Similar to the Faster Firing upgrade in BTD5, it increases attack speed of the Sniper Monkey by about +42%, equivalent to a 0.70x attack cooldown multiplier. Unless crosspathed with Elite Sniper, the Sniper's attack cooldown reduces from 1.59s to 1.11s, with Elite Sniper's cooldown reduction from 0.636s to 0.4452s.

This upgrade costs $380 on Easy, $450 on Medium, $485 on Hard, and $540 on Impoppable.

Description[]

Overview[]

001 faster firing

0-0-1 Fast Firing Sniper

The Sniper's beret changes color from green to grey.

Fast Firing attacks about +42% faster, equivalent to 0.70x attack cooldown. For all Snipers with this crosspath except Elite Sniper, their attack cooldown decreases from 1.59s to 1.11s. Elite Sniper's attack cooldown decreases from 0.636s to 0.4452s.

Targeting Priorities[]

Fast Firing targets bloons using the standard targeting priorities. It shoots a snipe attack.

  • First: Targets the first bloon visible within its range.
  • Last: Targets the last bloon visible within its range.
  • Close: Targets the closest bloon visible within its range.
  • Strong: Targets the strongest bloon visible within its range.

Can receive Camo Prioritization with Night Vision Goggles, allowing it to prioritize Camo Bloons over other types.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

Fast Firing is a simple upgrade that increases attack speed for the Sniper by a fair +42%, thereby increasing attack cooldown of most Snipers from every 1.59s to every 1.113s. Although the upcoming Even Faster Firing upgrade is almost always bought when wanting faster Sniper attack speed, the Fast Firing upgrade on its own can serve a few life-saving benefits that might not be possible if there is not enough money to purchase the Even Faster Firing upgrade. It is best paired with crosspaths to benefit its more powerful attacks, specifically Full Metal Jacket or Shrapnel Shot and above.

Tips[]

  • This upgrade allows the Sniper Monkey to be more reliable against stronger early-game bloons. This is especially evident on CHIMPS Mode on maps where long-ranged towers are highly advantaged, such as on Geared or Infernal.
  • When the Fast Firing upgrade is crosspathed with Maim MOAB, BFBs become stunned fast enough that the stun uptime is well over 100%. This is because a Sniper with Fast Firing attacks every 1.113s instead of 1.59s, and therefore it can perform a faster stun refresh.
  • The pure 0-0-1 Sniper is not very useful compared to adding multiple 0-0-0 Snipers. Instead, this upgrade should only be purchased with at least one other upgrade from Path 1 or 2. For example, a 1-0-1 Sniper is pretty handy against chipping down Pinks and Yellows between Rounds 11 to 19, as well as Blacks and Whites between Rounds 20 to 23, though again 1-0-2 Sniper is more desirable once enough cash can be afforded for Even Faster Firing.

Version History[]

Balance Changes[]

Adjustments to Path 3 crosspathing in Version 20.0 has lead to reduction of the attack speed bonuses of the first two upgrades. Fast Firing itself, however, attacks faster with this change. It gained a price nerf, mainly because of the efficiency of 1-0-1 Sniper early-games on short maps on CHIMPS.

20.0
  • Change Fast Firing attacks faster (1.3s → 1.113s), but bonus attack speed decreased from +54% to +42%.
41.0
Sniper Monkey has some very powerful upgrades but also many poor stepping stones. We felt this tower needed a big price shuffle all around, pushing down the cost of many underwhelming upgrades but returning this back into stronger upgrades.
~ Ninja Kiwi
  • NERF Fast Firing price increased from $400 to $450

Trivia[]

  • In BTD6, the blue hat that Faster Firing wore in BTD5 is now used for the Night Vision Goggles upgrade without additional crosspaths.
  • Prior to Version 20.0, when the Fast Firing upgrade is given to a Maim MOAB, BFBs become stunned fast enough that the stun uptime is just over 100%. This is because a Sniper with Fast Firing before Version 20.0 attacked every 1.3s instead of 2.0s.
    • Now Fast Firing makes the Sniper even faster than before, giving better uptime.
  • This upgrade and its subsequent upgrade names share a similar theme to the Dart Monkey's Tier 1 and 2 Middle path upgrades in that they both increase attack speed and that their Tier 2 upgrades both start with "Very" followed by the previous upgrade name.
