“ | Ezili is a wielder of dark arts and manipulator of Bloons. Beware. | ” |
~ In-game description |
Ezili is a Hero in Bloons TD 6 who was added in Version 7.0. She uses dark voodoo magic to attack the bloons. Her base attack is a "curse", sniping a bloon instantly, applying a curse damage-over-time to the target, and producing a splash that hits up to 5 bloons. Starting from Level 4, the splash can curse all damaged bloons. She cannot pop Purple Bloons unless Heartstopper ability is active or is supported with external buffs such as MIB. She can detect Camo & pop Leads by default, and is the cheapest hero or tower to pop Camo Leads.
She is tied with Sauda as the second-cheapest Hero in the game (with Quincy as the cheapest), costing $510 on Easy, $600 on Medium, $650 on Hard, and $720 on Impoppable. If Hero Favors is enabled, she will cost $460 on Easy, $540 on Medium, $585 on Hard, and $650 on Impoppable. Ezili can be unlocked for
3000.
Ezili's 1st hero skin, Smudge Catt, was released in the 12.0 update. With this skin, she turns blue with green eyes, and has an orange cat. Her hero pet, a purple frog, can be purchased for 75 and is compatible with the base skin. She also has a special placement animation, purchasable for
50, in which she appears in a burst of purple glyphs. Ezili is also featured in the Facepalm Emote and Slick Profile Ezili custom avatar.
Ezili's 2nd hero skin, Galaxili was released in the 29.0 update. With this skin, she turns into a cosmic and colorful mage.

Upgrades[]
Ezili will start upgrading herself every round upon placement. She earns more XP each round to unlock her next upgrade irrespective of how many bloons she pops. Her upgrades can also be immediately bought with cash, though the amount of cash required to purchase the next upgrade will typically increase as the upgrades get higher, making self-upgrading an important element for her overall power.
Just like Pat Fusty, Admiral Brickell, and Sauda, Ezili requires 1.425x as much experience upgrade each level compared to Quincy.

Activated Abilities[]
![]() |
Standardization This format, which consists of adding the "Activated Abilities" Header 2 section containing a bunch of information about the activated abilities, should be standardized across all Hero articles in BTD6, and maybe also BTDB2 too |
- See also: Activated Abilities (BTD6)#Ezili
Ezili has three activated abilities: Heartstopper (Level 3+), Sacrificial Totem (Level 7+), and MOAB Hex (Level 10+).
Heartstopper Ability[]

Heartstopper Ability
While active, all Regrow Bloons are unable to regenerate layers for 10 seconds. The effect is applied continuously for 10 seconds, so overall Regrow Bloons will not be able to regrow for 20 seconds. Likewise, Purple properties are negated for 10 seconds. Similar to the Grow Blocker Upgrade on the Village (0-1-0 Village) but with unlimited range. At level 12, ability duration and grow blocker effect are both increased to 20 seconds each, for a total of 40 seconds.
Heartstopper has a cooldown of 45s, 40s at Level 12+.
Sacrificial Totem Ability[]

Sacrifical Totem Ability
Generates a totem that grants extra pierce, extra range, extra attack and projectile speed, and Camo detection to all nearby towers, but also takes away 10 lives. Gives further bonuses to Wizards. Decreases to 1 life penalty upon reaching Ezili Level 16+. Lasts 30 seconds at levels 7-15 and 60 seconds starting from level 16. Sacrificial Totem is also able to activate any passive abilities involving life loss, including Elite Defender and Bomb Blitz.
Sacrificial Totem has a cooldown of 90 seconds.
MOAB Hex Ability[]

MOAB Hex Ability
Places a status on a MOAB-Class Bloon, causing it to take damage (4% Health + 1 for levels 10-19, and 5% Health + 1 for level 20) every second, lasts for up to 25 seconds, spawning no children bloons while still giving the full cash amount. Affects up to ZOMGs and DDTs, but cannot affect BADs until Level 20. MOAB Hex does not affect any Boss Bloons (such as Bloonarius), though it does affect any child MOAB-class bloons that bosses may spawn (excluding special boss minions categorized as Boss Bloons, which are the Lych-Soul from Gravelord Lych and Rock Bloons from Dreadbloon).
Cooldown of MOAB Hex is 60 seconds, 40 seconds if Level 20.
Strategy[]
Summary[]
Ezili is a hero who is very MOAB-Damage oriented. She struggles early game when bloons are spaced, level 4 allows her to curse multiple bloons. During lategame, she really shines as she gains her MOAB Hex ability which allows her to remove large chunks of dense late game rounds. At the same time, she also has very strong blimp damage starting at level 6 and which gets buffed at Level 14.
At level 9 she is able to remove properties from all bloons except Purple or Moab-Class Bloons namely removing Camo, Regrow & Fortification off her targets on initial Hexxing. Removing lot of HP from Super Ceramic Shells in late game.
Ezili is arguably one of the best heroes for Freeplay Mode, due to her ability to destroy BADs up to very high rounds with (Level 20) MOAB Hex, as it deals huge percentage-based damage and makes marked targets drop no additional MOABs/Bloons upon destruction. Her Totem's wide range and strong buffs allows her to boost important towers in Freeplay, such as Sun Temples or a Vengeful True Sun God, though Adora and Admiral Brickell do overshadow the Totem, as their buffs are much stronger altogether (Adora's Blood Sacrifice activation, Brickell's Naval Tactics buff to temples placed on water).
In Co-Op Mode, if multiple players have Ezili extremely high rounds past freeplay can be reached. Players would only need to keep chaining her MOAB Hex ability to destroy the stronger and stronger BADs. With the lesser MOABs being dealt with by multiple MOAB-stunning towers (such as Bloon Crush, The Big One, Super Glue, Etc) , and MOAB-deleting towers (such as Bloon Master Alchemist, Navarch of the Seas, XXXL Trap) effectively make BADs the only issue in higher rounds (especially since multiple Tier-5 towers can be stacked in Co-Op). The only issue in this strategy is if the BADs become too fast and overwhelming for MOAB Hex to deal with, this might warrant one player going Adora due to her temple-empowering buffs, since Sun temples would become an important source of DPS far into freeplay (Brickell is also a choice if water seems more convenient).
Ezili has occasional use in Boss Bloon Events, depending on the scoring method. Thanks to her Sacrificial Totem's attack speed buff, she has good usage for Least Cash and Least Tiers bosses, especially Normal bosses. For Timed Bosses, Ezili is only used when Geraldo or Benjamin are banned.
Ezili is not simply limited to being a late-game hero. Her early/mid-game potential, while weaker than Quincy or Sauda, is still usable for the first few rounds on CHIMPS, as she can solo Round 6 and 7 adequately. She is also useful in Primary Monkeys Only by providing temporary camo detection at the player's will using her Sacrificial Totems, although Etienne is superior in that regard due to him providing full camo detection globally at no cost. She is also fantastic at beating the early stages of Alternate Bloons Rounds, as she can pop both camo and lead from the start.
In terms of usage in CHIMPS, her biggest strength comes from her strong late-game power, with the majority of her power coming from MOAB Hex. Her main attacks are somewhat weak in comparison, although at Level 6+ her curses can do some decent damage to MOAB-class. Synergies with towers that can quickly cripple MOAB-class Bloons down to low health is the best time to activate MOAB Hex; examples include Plasma Accelerator, and the Unstable Concoction + Perma-Spike combo.
Tips[]
- Use Heartstopper when facing Regrow Heavy Rounds (such as 61, 72, 76, 79, 83 and 95) or if the quantity of regrows becomes overwhelming. Actually, Rounds 83 and 95 shouldn't be overwhelmed by their Regrow properties because regular bloons only spawn 1 child at a time. However, this doesn't mean Heartstopper is useless, because it helps to stop Purple Bloon properties, and slows regular bloons down, which is effective to massive amount of Super Ceramics.
- Use Sacrificial Totem ability only if the player needs the totem to prevent more leaks.
- Ezili's life-draining mechanic from the Sacrificial Totem ability synergizes well with Heart of Vengeance Druids, Elite Defender, and Bomb Blitz.
- This becomes even better with Marketplaces (with the
Healthy Bananas MK), as the lives that it passively generates allows even freer usage of the Sacrifcial Totem. Generally anything with Lives Generation is useful if one plans to frequently trigger the Sacrificial Totem.
- However, Marketplaces with the Healthy Bananas MK does not synergize with Heart of Vengeance, as gaining life will reduce their fire rate.
- This becomes even better with Marketplaces (with the
- Note that Sacrificial Totem cannot be used at all in Impoppable or CHIMPS mode due to the limit of 1 life, therefore making Sacrificial Totem useless on these modes.
- For the mid to late-game, Ezili is best paired with a tower that counters grouped bloons effectively.
- MOAB Hex causes the affected blimps to release no children when popped, and the effect will move to another blimp if its target is defeated before the effect expires.
- This can be useful in combination with other towers that can cleanup the bloon insides very well. A great example is Prince of Darkness, which itself gets buffed by Ezili starting at Level 11, increasing the pierce of reanimated bloons by +50%.
- Perma-Spike pairs greatly with Ezili for the late-game. By using MOAB Hex and setting Ezili to First, she can quickly eliminate many groups of blimps approaching the Perma-Spike's spikes. Therefore, she can act as grouped MOAB-class popping power in that sense.
- This makes her synergy with Spike Storm especially great, as its only weakness is ceramics popping out of the blimps and overrunning the spikes that only do bonus damage to MOAB-class.
- Ezili has her own uses in CHIMPS, as a late-game MOAB-class handler, more specifically with her MOAB Hex ability while paired with other MOAB-class popping power to tackle larger groups of blimps.
- Given that there is enough track, the MOAB Hex ability is up in time, and that Ezili is level 20, she can easily solo the Round 100 BAD.
- Also she is mostly used on certain challenges like CHIMPS140, as she can easily take down a Fortified BAD on Round 140.
- It is possible to beat 5 consecutive Fortified BADs on Round 300 with only 2 towers. The other one is Navarch of the Seas.
- Ezili is capable of soloing the first few rounds on CHIMPS on single-lane maps especially Geared, but she will need more help for beating the later rounds.
Version History[]
Balance Changes[]
Ezili has been buffed overall, giving her with more versatility on CHIMPS scenarios, although the Version 8.0 level rate nerf did make her no longer able to naturally reach Level 20 before Round 100 without Energizer or manually buying levels.
Ezili got some buffs later on, but Version 28.0 reworked her, which was done by Ninja Kiwi to simplify all DoT concepts in the game by removing stacking DoTs entirely, and it appears to be correlated to having previously removed stackable DoTs for Glaive Lord in preparation for Glaive Dominus. Previously, curse DoT effects could stack at the cost of 1 second reduced duration of the earliest curse DoTs. Through community testing, use of recording frame-by-frame her attacks lead to the conclusion that there was clear evidence that the stacked DoT damaged bloons every arbitrary second corresponding to each Ezili attack that adds extra DoT. Ninja Kiwi had briefly stated prior to the Version 28.0 update that they would rework Ezili's DoT, as they apparently stated that this was not the intended behavior of Ezili's curse DoT. The removal of stacking DoT was replaced with various buffs to make up for a considerably large nerf.
- 8.0
No longer strips special properties off of Purple Bloons.
Ezili's leveling up curve now progresses slower to an extent that barely prevents her from naturally reaching Level 20 before Round 100 without enhancements, even if placed on Round 1.
- 9.0
MOAB Hex now jumps to the next-strongest target if the main target is destroyed before the duration expires. The amount of times it can jump is infinite, but duration stays the same.
Level 4 splash AOE no longer centers around her if she destroys the target Bloon in one shot.
- 11.0
Ezili's level 1-3 basic attack now immediately has an 8 radius, 5 pierce splash for 1 damage
Ezili's level 4+ now allows the main attack to curse all targets hit by the splash
Ezili's level 7+ Sacrificial Totem will now activate the Bomb Blitz and Elite Defender life-loss abilities

“ | Ezili’s niche use is in an extremely strong spot right now so we shouldn’t really buff her, but anyway Heartstopper & Sacrificial Totem both feel too limited in total possible synergies, these are having quality of life improved and Heartstopper will additionally allow all towers to damage Purple Bloons to open up more combination options and give more reason to use it. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
Heartstopper now also removes Purple Bloon immunity for duration
Heartstopper can now activate if there are Purple Bloons spawned regardless if they are regrow or not
Level 3-11 Heartstopper duration increased 6s → 10s

“ | We like Ezili as she is and don’t want to mess with her too much, but currently her level 19 does effectively nothing so we thought it would be nice at this level to shift a little of that MOAB bonus damage on the main attack into raw damage instead. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
Ezili Lv19+ main attack DoT increased (3 → 6)
Ezili Lv19+ main attack DoT MOAB-class bonus reduced (+28 → +25)
- Total MOAB-Class bloon damage remains at 31, as base damage is increased by 3.
- 42.0
“ | Ezili has a good anti-camo build, however as her totem cant be used in CHIMPS and her main attack never upgrades to de-camo DDTs this means she is never able to de-camo DDTs when playing in CHIMPS even though her totem easily counters them in the base game. While we don’t have any concerns with some heroes being relegated more as ‘non-chimps’ heroes, we felt no reason not to solve this simple issue by allowing her main attack to upgrade to counter DDTs as well. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
Level 16+ Ezili's main attack can now decamo DDTs
[undocumented bug] Level 16+ Ezili can now defortify MOABs and DDTs
“ | While we like giving players lots to choose from as early as possible, we’ve seen feedback that the current hero unlock flow can feel overwhelming with all Monkey Money unlockable heroes becoming available immediately at account level 10. To address this, we are spacing this period out with a few different groupings of Hero unlocks and holding back some of the more complex Heroes until account level 35. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi, Version 42.0 preview notes |
Ezili now unlocks at Level 25 instead of Level 10

~ Ninja Kiwi |
Level 1-7 Ezili cursing damage-over-time damage increased from 1 to 2. Does not affect Level 8 (2) and above.

She was teased in Ninja Kiwi's social media, such as on Ninja Kiwi's Twitter account on this post. The teaser is a video that shows Ezili saying "Embrace the darkness" in the darkness, the only visible features being her X-shaped scar and her eyes.

Trivia[]
- Ezili is the first Hero in BTD6 to have three Activated Abilities instead of two.
- She is currently the second monkey in the game with three abilities total, the first one being Heli Pilot, the third being Adora, the fourth being Admiral Brickell (after an update), and the fifth being Striker Jones (also after an update).
- Ezili is the second female Hero Monkey in the game, the others being Gwendolin, Adora, Admiral Brickell, Sauda, and Rosalia.
- She is the second purchasable hero to receive a second skin. The other being Benjamin.
- She is the first and only tower in the entire Bloons TD Series to detect camo and pop leads without upgrades or support.
- Despite being the third Hero released in an update, Ezili earns XP faster than Captain Churchill and Benjamin in game.
- Both Ezili and Obyn Greenfoot are magic-using heroes.
- Ezili is the 6th hero to recive a second skin.
- Ezili's Sacrificial Totem is the only activated ability that takes away lives. (Sniper Monkey's Elite Defender and Bomb Shooter's Bomb Blitz are not considered activated abilities, and both abilities activate if a bloon has leaked.)
- Level 20 Ezili can defeat a B.A.D. on her own with the MOAB Hex ability on any map, including the vertical paths on #Ouch. She can even defeat a Round 969 Fortified B.A.D on Resort as well. (recent freeplay record by Raxzor)
- It takes around 25 seconds to annihilate a blimp on its own for levels 10-19.
- The Heartstopper ability actually reuses the Grow Blocker effect onto Regrow Bloons. It does still make sense, since essentially some kind of energy is used to force no regrowth for Regrow Bloons.
- The Sacrificial Totem requires at least 11 (2 at level 16+) Lives to activate.
- A self-inflicted defeat can only be caused by this ability through the 'Toggle Cooldowns' button in debug mode (only possible through modding). The button that resets cooldowns in Sandbox Mode functions similarly, but is not entirely the same thing due to a safeguard that prevents an easy defeat.
- Ezili appears on the Bloons TD 6+ animated cover art, and the only hero to do so. She appears to be levitating up and down and looking around side to side in a rather angry expression. Her bun sways as she levitates vertically, and her hands follow direction to her vertical movements.
- Other monkeys included on the artwork include Sharp Shurikens, Arcane Spike, and Faster Engineering.
- Both Purple Bloons and BADs involve the use of Ezili's activated abilities to dispatch them.
