This upgrade allows the Ninja Monkey to throw 2 shurikens per shot instead of 1. Both shurikens pop 4 bloons per shot each and are simultaneously shot at a rate of every 0.434s at a narrow angular distance from each other. This Ninja has 47 range. If given Caltrops, caltrops deal 5 damage instead of 3.
It costs $700, and is available after unlocking Ninja Monkey.
Doubling the number of shurikens per shot gives the Ninja Monkey with respectable popping power in the early-game, all for a moderate cost.
Tips[]
3-0-1 is usually better for the accurate shots. 3-0-2 can be added to stockpile some extra damage.
There is some use of 3-1-0 and 3-2-0, but only if needing the blowback and/or needing a minor decamo.

We have increased Ninja’s early-game potential since it stood out as a tower with relatively low DPS in the early game, always depending on another tower to deal the damage or to buff it. [...]

Ninja Monkey has spiked up in popularity since the last update, with the Ninja + Alchemist combo standing out as overly strong in all stages of the game. We have made quite a few changes to address this, such as keeping the additional +1 pierce on the early tiers but taking it back off for 2xx, with some price rearranging to accommodate. [...]

Ever since Ninja’s major nerfs a few updates ago, it has not been at the level that we would like. We are very conscious to not repeat past mistakes and over-buff it’s early game, so we’re just making very small changes for now. [...]

Trivia[]
When first released, Double Shot had the same upgrade cost as its BTDB Mobile counterpart. This was buffed to $650, and later the BTDB Mobile counterpart followed suit. However, this broke when Ninja got reworked in 3.3.2 to nerf Sharp Shurikens's bonus pierce carryover from base Ninja, and Version 4.1 changed it back to the original $700.
