Double HP MOABs icon

Double HP MOABs is a submode in Bloons TD 6. It is an unlockable challenge for Hard mode, and is unlocked after completing Magic Monkeys Only. In this game mode, all MOAB-Class Bloons have double the amount of HP they normally have, and this stacks with fortified properties.

This mode reduces the potency of certain abilities of towers such as MOAB Assassins and Ground Zero which will no longer be able to instapop BFB layer, and Admiral Brickell's Mega Mine only moderately damaging a ZOMG. However, options that can essentially permastall MOAB-class bloons such as Maim MOAB may work better in this game mode.

MOAB Health[]

Health values on DHP MOABs
Moab Class Normal HP DHP MOABs +Fortified
MOAB 200 400 800
BFB 700 1400 2800
ZOMG 4000 8000 *16000 (21,440)
*DDT *400 (480) *800 (960) *1600 (2,208)
*BAD *20000 (28,000) *40000 (56,000) *80000 (400,000)

*DDT, BAD, and Fortified ZOMG do not appear in the regular game mode, however will appear in Rounds 81+ in Freeplay Mode.

Strategy[]

Before rounds 40 and 50, the game plays just like a standard Hard game. Use those earlier rounds to build up a solid defense (especially for MOABs), blimp instakills, or farm. Afterwards, it is advised to be more careful about MOAB-class bloons on round 52 onwards. Farming greedily before round 40 is a good approach on most maps.

Tips[]

  • Farm hard for this game mode, because late mid/late game (rounds 60-80) can be very tough to beat, especially for rounds such as round 64 with multiple grouped Fortified MOABs, as well as rounds 75 and 77, where there are multiple grouped BFBs.
  • You can treat most of the MOAB bloons as if they were fortified, and use similar anti-MOAB strategies to defeat the MOAB layers.
  • Ninja Monkey with Sticky Bombs is viable alternative that can remove MOABs as threat but will struggle against BFBs requiring 3 bombs to fully pop its layer.
  • Rounds 3-39 & 41 - 49 are exactly like normal Hard Mode, so use this opportunity to set up good income sources. IMF Loan in particular are excellent income sources, especially when paired with Benjamin and the Bank Deposits MK.
  • Use a MOAB Maulers to break apart early MOAB-class bloons. Fighter Planes are also useful for damaging groups of MOAB-class bloons from any distance, and can be upgraded to Operation: Dart Storm for good bloon popping power on top of the increased anti-MOAB missiles strength too. You can also use Moab Assassins for more popping power.
  • Top-path Monkey Aces are ideal for this gamemode due to their cheap global MOAB popping power. A 4-x-x Ace can be purchased before Round 40 without farming. On maps with water, combine it with a 5-x-x Monkey Buccaneer for the attack speed bonus.
  • 4-2-0 Sniper Monkeys are extremely effective for stalling, able to completely stall MOABs, slow BFBs to a crawl and significantly slow down ZOMGs and thereby strengthening defenses when dealing with blimps. The shrapnel inherits the stun effect, allowing it to stop multiple at the same time.
  • Overall, the mode isn't much harder over a standard Hard game outside of earlier rounds and similar strategies can be used from the standard mode.
  • Try to use upgrades that deals extra damage to MOABs as much as you can, since the main issue for this game mode is high-HP MOAB-Class Bloons. You can also use extra damage to BADs when trying to reach Round 100, although single-target MOAB-class specialists such as M.A.D are already sufficient.
  • Using Instakill methods, such as XXXL Trap, Pirate Lord, Bloon Master Alchemist, Orca (RBE threshold 500,000, maximum beast power recommended) are efficient in this gamemode. Use instakill methods that affects up to BFBs until Round 79, and upgrade one of them to destroy a ZOMG in one go, in order to beat Round 80. Note that every towers which can instakill ZOMGs also instakill DDTs when they are in range of Radar Scanner, so it might be helpful against Fortified ZOMGs and Fortified DDTs on Rounds 97 and 99 too.
  • For tips past Round 80, see below:
    • Upon rounds 81+ freeplay rules, the RBE value of each round is approximately doubled, as most of bloons by this point are MOAB-Class Bloons and their health progressively increases. For instance, a normal BAD on Round 100 has 67,200 RBE in usual, but in this game mode it consists nearly 130,000 RBE, as most of RBE takes up from MOAB-Class layers. Similarly, a Fortified BAD on Round 140 has ~430,000 RBE but in this game mode it has ~850,000 RBE.
    • Stalling methods like Bloon Crush and Icicle Impale are also recommended, which makes all bloons up to ZOMGs and DDTs slower.
    • Knockback methods like MOAB press or MOAB shove are highly encouraged in this gamemode, which pushes MOABs to DDTs back.
    • MOAB-class debuffs such as Super Brittle and Cripple MOAB help assist in crushing MOAB-class layers.
    • Use Shattering Shells to reduce Fortified BFBs' RBE could also be a good approach, especially on Round 98, which reduces around 25% of its total RBE.
    • Ezili is also the good choice even if you don't farm in this gamemode, especially when trying to reach Round 100.
    • Beating Round 100 in this game mode just has similar difficulty as Apopalypse/ABR counterpart, as Apopalypse consists endless stream of MOAB-Class rushes alongside a BAD and ABR consists a Fortified BAD, which contains similar RBE as this game mode.

Trivia[]

  • Double HP MOABs used to be the third of the first Hard Difficulty path, but it's now become the second because of the removal of Half Starting Cash and the inclusion of Half Cash to replace in Version 2.0.0.
  • Any Boss Bloons seen are also affected by this game mode, because Boss Bloons are also considered as MOAB-Class Bloons.
