“ | TIP: DEFLATION
Invest wisely! In this game you won't get any income from popping bloons, completing rounds, or other sources like Bro Fist or BMO. Spend your starting cash to build a perfect defense. Remember you can sell characters to reclaim some cash if you need to. |

~ Cuber's description to Deflation rule in the Martian Games |
Deflation a rule in Martian Games. It returns in BATTD from other BTD games with the same functionality. The player starts with a flat $50,000 and cannot gain anymore of them through any means (i.e. cash from bloon pops and round completion, bonus income per pop, income generation), not even from the Magic Coin Purse, but selling will still refund cash.
Strategy[]
Summary[]
A fixed total amount of $50,000 to spend on defenses will not provide you enough money to build an extremely high-end defense necessary to reliably beat rounds past the 40s. Therefore, it is important to know which towers and upgrades are needed for offense and, if available, which towers to discount so the player has more leftover cash for more towers or upgrades.
Tips[]
- Remember to take off any allies and trinkets that give only cash, because they will not work in this gamemode.
- Tuxedo Jake is a very strong asset in this game mode. With a starting cost of $600, he can discount all tower upgrades in range by at least 10%, which can be improved further at Level 4 and again at Level 9. At Level 3 and below, it takes a total of $6,000 in upgrade cost to break even.
- Using Supermonkey's Heroic Aura also works if Tuxedo Jake is not available, provided the player can spend more than $12,500 on nearby upgrades. On top of that, the player gets a powerful fast-attacking tower suitable for fighting strong bloons.
- Items that give both cash and lives (e.g. Bro Fist, Thought Cannon Wand, COBRA) will drop them as usual, but the player may only receive lives and out-of-game items (if any) from them.
- Discount trinkets such as Soul Stone provide major savings for single characters, especially those with expensive upgrades. Stack with other discount trinkets if necessary to provide the best discount, but also check which trinkets should remain equipped for other purposes before doing so.

Trivia[]
- If BMO or Holiday BMO is placed while Deflation is active, they will remain standing instead of being disabled just as they would when reaching the $10,000 income cap in non-Deflation Martian Games.
- Because BMO cannot generate cash here, they cannot reach their maximum cash capacity which would have changed their idle animation.
- Income only related upgrades such as Tuxedo Jake's Busker and Dr Monkey's Alchemy can still be bought. However, they will have no effect.
