Covered Garden is an Intermediate Map in Bloons TD 6. It was announced on April 11, 2022, as one of three joint winners of the 200k Map Concept Competition, along with Dark Dungeons and Erosion. It was originally designed by SuperPsou. It was released on Version 33.0, along with Midnight Mansion and the Goliath Doomship.
Overview[]
The map takes place at a covered garden. The main course of the map is in the covered garden, which consists of four quadrants occupying a selection of that garden. Three of the quadrants are covered by transparent panels. The bloon track consists of a single path passing through the bottom-left, top-left, and top-right quadrants. Towers cannot be placed on or interacted with in the covered parts of the garden. However, covered towers will still attack bloons as usual, and any collectables (e.g. bananas and crates) generated can still be collected. At the end of each round, each panel slides in a formation that follows an anti-clockwise direction. The panels slide just in a similar fashion to a sliding puzzle.
Inside the garden are a number of obstacles. Across the top-left and bottom-left quadrants is a vertical column of four flowery hedges that blocks Line of Sight, separating the view for the right-sided quadrants. The stone pedestal holding the purple willow tree, which is found inside the top-right quadrant, also blocks Line of Sight. There are multiple flowerbeds inside the covered garden that cannot be placed on, none of which block Line of Sight. The fountain inside the top-left quadrant cannot place towers but also don't block Line of Sight.
The bottom-right quadrant of the garden contains a body of water which also extends slightly into the bottom-left quadrant. Inside the top-left quadrant has partial high ground in the form of a park bench, allowing reach over any obstacle except the stone flowerbeds on the left of the covered garden.
Behavior and Interactions[]
Most of these behavior and interactions listed here primarily relate to the interactions to the glass frames.
- Any placeable sub-towers cannot be placed inside the glass, regardless of ability and manually or not. However, sub-towers from the main tower's automatic deployment, such as Engineer's Sentries, will continue to be deployed.
- All track items, including placeable track items, and on-track attacks can still target inside the glass.
- Geraldo's Killer Rabbit disappears after the round ends if stuck in glass.
- Bananas and other collectables do not change behavior if inside the glass.
- Tower menus are forcefully closed if the selected tower is no longer in a "selectable" state.
- Attempting to tap towers through the glass will only result in a glass-knocking sound effect.
- Portable Lakes can be stacked above the glass frame via Arctic Wind's frozen water, which requires at least 31 pools stacked, but are forcefully sold after a round ends.
- All aircraft flies below the glass and cross through the sides of the frame.
- It is impossible to place towers between the inner frames of the covered garden.
- Heli Pilot and Dartling Gunner continue following whatever assigned Targeting Priority regardless of whether they're inside the glass or not.
- Same applies to Master Builder's Green Sentry Paragon.
- Most activated abilities from Heroes and Towers still can be used regardless if they're inside the glass or not. However, if the unit is inside the glass, only the abilities from the abilities menu can be tapped.
- Door Gunner cannot pick up eligible towers when the tower is inside glass.
- Overclock or Ultraboost abilities cannot target towers that are inside the glass.
- Dark Knight, Dark Champion or Legend Of The Night can still use "Darkshift" to teleport onto a valid land location but can't teleport into any closed glass areas.
- Admiral Brickell cannot deploy Mega Mine if the water is in glass.
- If Geraldo is inside the glass, his shop cannot be accessed.
- Adora cannot use Blood Sacrifice ability onto towers that are inside the glass.
- Beast Handler's Merge system can merge beasts into handlers that aren't trapped in the glass. The merge menu is not forced out if the donor handler itself is trapped in the glass.
- Beast Handler's Place Beast targeting option can reposition beasts on available quadrants of the covered garden, as the merge menu is not forced out if the handler itself is trapped in the glass.
- If Rosalia or her workshop is out of range of the glass, she can be selected by tapping whichever or whoever is outside.

Summary[]
Covered Garden's unique map gimmick of blocking off direct tower interaction every few rounds can be quite a challenge to counter. Although a moderate length map, the inability to tap on towers inside the covered garden for 3 out of 4 rounds means that the player must plan ahead with tower placement and at what rounds they will become available. Most of the available land, and all of the available water, are inside the covered garden. However, it is possible to "cheese" the map with global-ranged mobile towers such as Heli Pilots; there is enough space on the left-hand side outside of the garden to place at least one column of any tower type.
Tips[]
- Make use of the list of special interactions on this map to decide what towers should be prioritized outside of the garden versus inside the garden.
- Sauda + Comanche Defense outside of the garden advance against mid-game rounds.

Trivia[]
- u/SuperPsou used Paint.NET to draw the concept artwork.
- SuperPsou was uncertain on the treatment of flying towers like the Monkey Ace and Heli Pilot. He provided three mutually exclusive suggestions on how to treat them:
- Flying towers be unable to affect bloons covered by a panel while non-flying towers can.
- Banning flying towers entirely on this map.
- Flying towers pierce through the window panes, no matter how illogical that would be.
- The end result ultimately became a resemblance of this, though with a perspective of the towers flying under the panels.
- Clicking on the panels makes a glass tapping sound.
- It takes 31 Portable Lakes stacked with frozen water to reach over the glass.[1] However, after the round ends, any towers placed above the glass get sold.[2]
- It is the first map to have the mechanic of preventing tower selection and forcefully closing selected Tower menus.
- According to Ninja Kiwi's 1st March 2024 blog, Covered Garden allows Mortars to "shoot through" glass because the glass is actually tall enough for the mortar shells to not go over.
