| Official Name The term "Cold" is a term popularized by fans and is confirmed by official sources (e.g. in-game, Ninja Kiwi blog). |
Cold is a damage type introduced in Bloons TD 6. It replaced Metal Freeze and Metal Glacier Freeze as the default damage type of the Ice Monkey. Cold-type attacks are unable to pop Lead Bloons, White Bloons, and Frozen Bloons, but can pop anything else. The Bloons Wiki represents this damage type with
, the upgrade icon for Deep Freeze in Bloons TD 6, since it visually depicts the act of freezing a bloon the most accurately out of all Ice Monkey upgrade icons in that game.
Cold can be switched out for
Metal Freeze with the Cold Snap upgrade (formerly Metal Freeze before version 28.0), and for
Glacier with Re-Freeze. Having both modifies the Ice Monkey's damage type to Metal Freeze/Glacier ![]()
.
Most Cold-type attacks will usually come with a Freeze
status effect that will freeze any affected bloons, due to its endothermic theme. BTD6 Arctic Wind's aura is considered Cold, as it does not slow down White, Zebra, or Lead, but only its freeze attack can apply a freeze. Interestingly, Embrittlement has the Cold damage type by default but also comes with Brittle
to make frozen bloons vulnerable to sharp and freezing damage.
In Bloons TD 6, all attacks containing the Cold damage type come with Cannot Target Frozen
, ignoring Frozen Bloons completely. Strangely enough, BTD6 Monkey Intelligence Bureau doesn't grant frozen targeting, which prevents Ice Monkeys without Re-Freeze or similar innate upgrades to refreeze bloons.
