You can now choose whether to play a Ranked or Casual game. In Casual games:
  • Wins and losses do not affect trophies or ranking in Hall of Masters
  • There are no restrictions on upgrade tiers
  • No Battle Points, Monkey Money or chests are earned for winning
  • You earn XP and Hero Points as normal

Casual Mode is a game mode in Bloons TD Battles 2, introduced in the Version 1.1.0. Unlike Ranked Battles, this mode matches players regardless of their current Arenas or rankings in Hall of Masters.

Compared to Ranked Battles, Casual Battles do not apply a multiplier to Tower XP or Hero Points based on the player's current Arena, reward 50% less Monkey Money, and will not affect the player's Trophies or Hall of Masters rating. However, players can still make progress toward Quests and Accolades.

Similar to Private Matches, all Casual Battles use the Red Bloon Camp environment for matchmaking and the in-battle UI. Despite this, all maps are playable in Casual Battles, including those restricted to higher Arenas.

This game mode was removed in the Version 4.0, as Ninja Kiwi considered it was considered unnecessary with the introduction of Arena Leagues. However, by popular demand, it was reintroduced in the Version 4.1.

Strategy[]

As Casual Battles do not affect the player's ranking in any way, the main purpose of Casual Battles to experienced players is to practice strategies in a low-stakes environment. To a lesser extent, it is also useful for grinding resources for tier 5 upgrades, Hero Alts, and, if the player desires, progress toward cosmetics, though Ranked Battles reward more of these overall if the player has a decent win rate.

Many players have told us that, since Casual Mode was removed in 4.0, they missed the less competitive mentality among players in that game mode. We have therefore decided to reinstate Casual Mode games.

Quotes[]

We will likely add a new ‘arena’ for casual play. The rules are likely to be:
  • No loss or gain or trophies for winning and losing(or Elo change), though the wins and losses will be recorded in your permanent stats (perhaps separated from ranked play)
  • Full XP earned for towers used, including universal tower XP
  • No battle points earned
  • No battle chests earned

These same rules would apply to private games too, so friends can make progress in the game while battling each other.
