In Bloons Monkey City, buildings can be built in order to increase the number of your available towers, to allow research of upgrades, or to facilitate such progress. Some buildings deal with the generation or storage of City Cash, while others generate the power that buildings generally need. Buildings that do not state they can be placed on River or Lake tiles cannot be placed on these tiles.

Monkey Buildings[]

Monkey Buildings, otherwise called Unit Buildings, allows Monkeys and both Road Spikes and Pineapples for use on the battlefield. Each will take some City Cash and time to build, and rewards XP upon being built.

Banana Barns are the only exception, as they are bought with real money since they have a special effect on the city by raising the City Cash capacity of all Banana Farms by 10% for each one. They also exist solely for decoration, and do not consume power or yield XP.

Upgrade Buildings[]

Upgrade Buildings are built to research upgrades for specified towers. Any Upgrade Building can be built at one's discretion, although the Monkey Academy is required to to research the Long Range Darts upgrade and complete the tutorial. The Monkey Town Hall is automatically built once the city is first created. Upon building the Banana Farm Lab, Banana Farms can be used in battle. This listing follows the sequence presented in the buildings menu, (accessed from the bottom right of game screen).

Special Buildings[]

Special buildings mainly function to faciltate specific upgrades for various towers. They can:

  • Enable Camo detection and removal related upgrades;
  • Enable upgrades considered specifically relevant to popping MOABs and allow the building of Super Monkey Villas;
  • Enable research for tier three upgrades for Super Monkeys;
  • Enable research for tier four upgrades, with the Banana Investments Advisory being the only exception.

Efficient Land Use[]

There is no way to "grind" XP in Bloons Monkey City, so the only ways in which you can enable additional XP are by capturing tiles, building buildings, fulfilling quests and unlocking upgrades. You can improve the efficiency of the land that has been captured replacing buildings that support less experience and replacing them with buildings that support more. Demolishing a building creates "debt" equal to the XP gained for completing the building; this "debt" must be paid by earning that amount of XP before the player's City XP can increase again. Upgrade Buildings, Special Buildings, and Monkey v Monkey buildings (except Bloontonium Storage Tanks and Bloontonium generator) cannot be demolished once built. Below are the buildings that can be built and demolished in order to improve efficiency.
