- This page is a general guide for Bomb Shooter. For more advanced guides, see Bomb Shooter (BTDB2)/Strategies/Optimization
The Bomb Shooter is a cannon that shoot bombs in Bloons TD Battles 2. Bomb Shooter specializes in grouped damage within range, and has direct synergy with Striker Jones. However, it lacks any practical camo detection and struggles against Black Bloons without support.
The aim of this article is a general guide for using the Bomb Shooter. It summarizes how to effectively use Bomb Shooter without going into too much intricate detail about meta strategy.
Base Tower[]
- Cost: $525
- Unlock: Default
Base Bomb Shooter shoots bombs that explode on the first bloon hit, creating a small explosion that deals 1 damage each that pops up to 14 bloons. This base tower is most effective against Grouped Reds, though it can still struggle against any other bloon formation. Much of the Bomb Shooter's true power comes from its upgrades.
Upgrades[]
Bigger Bombs[]
- Cost: $350
- Path: 1
- Tier: 1
- Unlock: Default
Bigger Bombs increases blast radius and allows explosions to pop 20 bloons instead of 14. The increased blast radius is generally the main benefit from this upgrade, covering a greater area of bloons popped at once.
Heavy Bombs[]
- Cost: $650
- Path: 1
- Tier: 2
- Unlock: Default
Heavy Bombs allows bombs to deal 2 damage per explosion and pop up to 30 bloons per shot. The extra pierce makes the Bomb Shooter noticeably better against densely clumped bloons, but the main deal is the 2 damage per explosion, wiping out Blues in a single shot and weakening stronger bloons, enough to make a solid difference against up to White and Purple.
Really Big Bombs[]
- Cost: $1,200
- Path: 1
- Tier: 3
- Unlock: Default
Really Big Bombs increases blast radius, pierce, and damage of each explosion, for 3 damage and 50 pierce. The biggest strength of this upgrade is the 3 damage per shot combined with the large explosion radius. These explosions rip through a lot of bloon layers and make quick work out of any bloon below Ceramic, provided it can damage and detect them.
Bloon Impact[]
- Cost: $3,600
- Path: 1
- Tier: 4
- Unlock: Default
Bloon Impact lets each explosion stun bloons it damages. This is most effective against Ceramics, as these bloons take multiple hits to destroy. The true value of this upgrade comes from using the Path 2 crosspath to permanently stun bloons in place upon consecutive hits.
Bloon Crush[]
Bloon Crush is a very expensive upgrade but now lets explosions stun MOAB-class bloons, including visible DDTs, in addition to a large amount of damage per explosion. Because it is so expensive, it is generally reserved much later in the game, mainly for defending DDT all-outs.
Faster Reload[]
- Cost: $250
- Path: 2
- Tier: 1
- Unlock: Default
Faster Reload increases the attack speed of the Bomb Shooter. This increases the rate of firing explosive bombs. It is normally bought in conjunction with an already upgraded Bomb Shooter to maximize its grouped popping power.
Missile Launcher[]
- Cost: $400
- Path: 2
- Tier: 2
- Unlock: Default
Missile Launcher exchanges bombs for missiles, which increases the attack speed of the Bomb Shooter even more, for an optimally high amount of attack speed. Missiles also have more range and projectile speed, allowing them to catch faster bloons more reliability, but the greatest value of this upgrade comes from that edge in extra attack speed.
MOAB Mauler[]
- Cost: $900
- Path: 2
- Tier: 3
- Unlock: Default
MOAB Mauler explosions deal huge damage to MOAB-class bloons, plus some bonus damage to Ceramics. MOAB Maulers are optimized for destroying MOAB-class bloons, particularly early MOABs, in combination with other defenses. It can still waste its shots on non-blimp bloons, especially Ceramics, so Maulers will need to be supported with cleanup of these types of bloon.
MOAB Assassin[]
- Cost: $3,200
- Path: 2
- Tier: 4
- Unlock: Default
MOAB Assassin adds an ability that instantly deals 750 damage to the strongest blimp on screen. Its main use is to destroy the outer layers of strong single-target blimps such as BFBs and ZOMGs, particularly their Fortified counterparts. Because the ability has no initial cooldown, MOAB Assassin can be sold and rebought again whenever needed in an instant. MOAB Assassin's main attack also does extra MOAB-class damage, though less efficient than a similar number of MOAB Maulers for the same cost.
MOAB Eliminator[]
MOAB Eliminator greatly increase ability damage and greatly lowers cooldown for the ability. Each use of the ability deals 4500 damage, 6x as much as MOAB Assassin. This makes it optimized for use against ZOMGs and BADs. MOAB Eliminator's main missile attack also does a lot of damage against MOAB-class bloons, though the main use of this upgrade is its ability.
Extra Range[]
- Cost: $200
- Path: 3
- Tier: 1
- Unlock: Default
Extra Range increases range of the Bomb Shooter. This isn't really necessary for Bomb Shooter, which is optimized mainly for area damage more than the areas at where it can shoot at.
Frag Bombs[]
- Cost: $300
- Path: 3
- Tier: 2
- Unlock: Default
Frag Bombs adds a spray of 8 sharp fragments to each explosion, popping more bloons including Black Bloons. However, the explosion actually does pop Black Bloons in addition to the fragment sprays.
Cluster Bombs[]
- Cost: $800
- Path: 3
- Tier: 3
- Unlock: Default
Cluster Bombs causes each bomb to produce a large secondary explosion subsequently after the primary explosion, instead of fragments. This results in extra grouped damage within a wider area. It is cheaper than Really Big Bombs and deals with weaker bloons more efficiently. As Cluster Bombs retains the black-popping explosives from the previous upgrade, Cluster Bombs creates widespread universal group-popping power for cheap.
Recursive Cluster[]
- Cost: $3,200
- Path: 3
- Tier: 4
- Unlock: Default
Recursive Cluster causes every second bomb to produce a huge tertiary explosion subsequently after the secondary explosion, for three explosions in total. This results in a lot of grouped damage within a fixed area. Tertiary explosions produce huge explosions and have very high pierce, making them suitable for widespread popping of bloons.
Bomb Blitz[]
Bomb Blitz greatly increases damage of each explosion, causes all bombs to produce tertiary explosions, and comes with the passive Bomb Blitz ability. This ability triggers a bomb storm that instantly destroys all bloons below BFB on screen and does huge damage to all other blimps. As a passive ability, this ability only activates if bloons leak or lives are lost. Provided the bomb storm deals enough damage, lives will not drop upon leaking, making it suitable for a last ditch defense against leaks up to Ceramic. It can also be synergized with Ezili's Sacrificial Totem for on-demand usages of the passive ability.
