~ In-game description

There is a special interaction with MOAB Shove that increases knockback potency versus MOAB-class. There is no special interaction with Razor Rotors.

This upgrade costs $255 on Easy, $300 on Medium, $325 on Hard, and $360 on Impoppable.

Description[]

Overview[]

Faster jets

Bigger Jets (left, bottom) moving faster than a base Heli Pilot

With Bigger Jets, the tail of the Bigger Jets becomes yellow to signify its bigger upgraded jets, which are placed internally in the helicopter and not visible to the player. The tail rotor is absent in this upgrade.

Bigger Jets improves the efficiency of the helicopter's flight speed, in addition to crosspathing benefits when given MOAB Shove.

Targeting Priorities[]

Bigger Jets utilizes touch-based mobility and self-mobility to move around the screen with different flight targetings. Its main attack shoots straight movement projectiles, which originate from the Heli Pilot with its independent range like an ordinary tower.

  • Follow Touch / Follow Mouse: Moves to where the player taps. On desktop versions, Follow Touch instead becomes Follow Mouse, which will make the Heli Pilot move to wherever the cursor is currently at.
  • Lock In Place: Stops the Heli Pilot where it is when the Target Priority is selected. Can be adjusted to choose a different locked location.
  • Patrol: Patrols between two spots chosen by the player. Can be adjusted to choose different points.
  • Pursuit: Equivalent to the target priority First, except the Heli Pilot will follow in front of the bloons while shooting them. It is unlocked with the purchase of the second upgrade on the first path, with the same name as the target priority. Once upgraded to the respective upgrade, it automatically switches to this target priority.

The Heli Pilot's main attacks always default on First based on the range of the helicopter's weaponry.

Strategy[]

Strategy[]

Bigger Jets improves the overall performance of the Heli Pilot by improving its flight speed. This helps it become better suited for micromanagement and therefore will have a considerably easier time chasing faster bloons. In addition, there is a special bonus for MOAB Shoves with this upgrade that allow them to deal greater shoving knockback versus MOAB-class.

Tips[]

  • Adding this to Pursuit makes the Heli Pilot more reliable at properly managing its automatic flight pattern. In some cases, Bigger Jets is better than adding Faster Firing.

Version History[]

Balance Changes[]

The difference in base Heli speed has increased by implementing a nerf to base Heli Pilot and a buff to this upgrade, specifically designed to encourage more Path 2 crosspathing.

21.0
  • BUFF Bigger Jets flight speed increased (67.5 → 70).
22.0
  • BUFF Bigger Jets now improves MOAB Shove knockback.

Trivia[]

  • Despite the name, the Heli Pilot's helicopter does not have visible jet engines before or after purchasing this upgrade. This applies to every game that the Heli Pilot has been in.
    • However, most helicopters drive their rotor using what is known as a turboshaft jet engine. This is a jet engine similar to those on winged aircraft, but modified so that the engine's primary output is spinning a shaft rather than expelling high velocity exhaust. This shaft is connected to the rotor of the helicopter. Thus the Bigger Jets upgrade likely increases the size of this turboshaft engine, giving the Heli Pilot a much more powerful rotor.
