Ancient Portal is an Advanced Map in Bloons TD 6. It was added in Version 45.0 along with Blastapopoulos: Demon of the Core boss bloon and Fast Track mode.
Overview[]
The map is located in a forest during night. Entrance is located on upper right corner. Bloons go through spiral stone path and enter the portal that teleports them to other portal that is active. However, there is also a boss-exclusive lane; the Boss always travels from the bottom-right of the righthand portal lane and travels through the portal unphased towards the lefthand portal lane.
On the bottom, there is a Scientist Monkey with apparatus. Apparatus can be toggled to change active portal for free. There is an approximately 5-second cooldown between toggles.
Depending on active portal, bloons will take one of two paths:
- Straight path (which is active from the beginning). While it is shorter, it is placed outside ruins, so towers can access both parts. This path also includes small water lake.
- Curled path. It is longer, but located inside the ruins which has line of sight blocked from outside world.
There are four moon runes placed around the map. They provide various boost to Heroes placed on top of them:
- Rune near the entrance provides Camo Detection and Monkey Intelligence Bureau buff.
- Rune between two paths provides +1 damage and +25% range buff.
- Rune in the water increases XP gain and lowers ability cooldown time by 25%. Affects Admiral Brickell, Pat Fusty, and Silas by default, but can also affect land heroes standing on top of water with the help of Arctic Wind, but not those standing on top of Pontoon.
- Rune within the walls in the bottom-left grants +15% attack speed and +2 pierce.
When towers have popped a total of 15,000 bloons within upper 70 radius, 3 stone monkey carvings near the stone spiral path will begin to glow. Tapping them unleashes a portal explosion, it affects the whole screen, deals 50 damage increased by 3 per round, has -5 pierce and stuns affected bloons for 9 seconds.

Summary[]
The extra lanes may look difficult, but it is fairly easy if fully utilising the map gimmicks. This is actually a single-lane map, with the ending lane depending on which portal side was activated. The zones containing hero buffs can be used to take full advantage of the Hero.
For the lane choice, both lanes have use cases. The left lane is easier if centering defense on short-ranged towers like Overdrive and Embrittlement, and short-ranged heroes like Sauda. On the other hand, the right lane allows towers to have more track coverage, for covering the entrance and exit regions.
Ancient Portal has decent coverage for a variety of strategies, given the moderate amounts of wide open space and the generous varieties of corners and bends, and sufficient space for Village-oriented strategies, including large-sized Monkeyopolis.
Tips[]
- If Geraldo is placed on one of the Runes, his sub-towers will inherit rune buffs. Moreover, they can be placed on other runes, inheriting both runes' buffs.
- This allows for some very strong mid-game options with Gerry’s Fire.
- Necromancer Undead Bloon targeting is awkward on the righthand portal lane, as the Undead Bloons consider the Boss lane as a valid lane; Undead Bloons chase the bloons instead of going back along the track.
- It is also applied Sauda's sword charge ability.
