Alluring Melody is the third upgrade of Path 3 for the Mermonkey in Bloons TD 6. Every few seconds, the Mermonkey generates a spiralling echoing aura, hypnotizing bloons to follow its aura in an anticlockwise direction at 3x speed for up to 6 seconds, each bloon spinning 360° each cycle before returning back to its original location once hypnosis finishes. Bloons hypnotized by the aura additionally trigger all the damage-over-time effects the bloons would have taken, all at once, with a maximum of 200 damage per hypnosis on each bloon. Hypnosis from Alluring Melody cannot target Purples unless given support, and will never target MOAB-class Bloons. Also, trident piercing area-of-effect now has 9 pierce instead of 3.

Alluring Melody's hypnotic allure lasts for 6 seconds, recurringly attracting bloons within the Mermonkey's range towards the aura of 30 radial size in an anticlockwise direction. During the process, it attracts up to 2 bloons at once, but requires 2 pierce versus Ceramics, at a rate of every 0.3s. Bloons will keep spiralling around the aura until the duration ends. After the duration of the hypnotic allure ends, it undergoes a cooldown of 3 seconds. To discourage rapid spamming of Alluring Melodies against dense bloon formations, the hypnotic allure has a 12-second initial cooldown. Trident Efficiency and Trident Swiftness upgrades will make the hypnosis trigger faster but not reduce the downtime of the hypnosis aura.

This upgrade costs $2,380 on Easy, $2,800 on Medium, $3,025 on Hard, and $3,360 on Impoppable.

Alluring Melody is based on the siren from mythology, a half-woman, half-bird mermaid-like creature who can sing sweetful music to lure sailors towards her, causing any foolish sailors to meet their doom. However, the Mermonkey with the Alluring Melody upgrade is more piscine, which aligns with many modern interpretations of sirens.

Alluring Melody holds a “trident” that is now a pink staff with three hearts aligned vertically and ending with a pointed end. She has one visible tooth from her mouth. She is sleepy-eyed, and has pink eyelashes. Her eyebrows and horns are dark pink. Her tailfin is pink, the colors of her tail’s scales transition from dark blue to purple into pink, and the shape of her tailfin is four-fingered with smoothened ends. The Mermonkey sits on a dark purple rounded rock with several pink and blue stone spots. On the Alluring Melody's upgrade portrait, the Mermonkey is stroking the wand and emits bubbles and a few musical notes.

Crosspathing alters the appearance of the Mermonkey with Alluring Melody. For Path 1 crosspathing, Trident Efficiency, the horns of the Mermonkey become blue, and the fur of the Mermonkey becomes dark blue with Trident Swiftness. As for Path 2 crosspathing, Sharper Prongs gives a white-outlined lined crown, and a crystal at the forehead and a cyan-filled hearts in the love staff with Tidal Chill.

The eponymous attack of the Alluring Melody is an aura of musical bars encircling the Mermonkey, which pull Bloons around it, forcing the Bloons to move anticlockwise, and immediately triggering all damage-over-time effects. Every time this attack is made, she makes an eerie song. There is a long initial cooldown to begin, and a shorter cooldown after finishing the melodious allure. The alluring hypnosis rapidly attracts more and more bloons per second.

Targeting Priorities[]

Alluring Melody targets bloons using the standard targeting priorities. Its trident attack shoots straight movement projectiles.

  • First: Targets the first bloon visible within its range.
  • Last: Targets the last bloon visible within its range.
  • Close: Targets the closest bloon visible within its range.
  • Strong: Targets the strongest bloon visible within its range.

Alluring Melody's hypnotic allure is locked on Close. The Echosense Network buff targets only x-x-2+ Mermonkeys across the whole screen.

Although it already comes with Echosense Precision, which grants camo detection to the Mermonkey, it does not add the Camo Prioritization targeting option.

Affected bloons trigger all their damage-over-time effects at once, maximum of 200 damage on each bloon.

Summary[]

Alluring Melody adds a unique method of forceably repositioning bloons within a specific area, alongside unique synergies with damage-over-time effects by inflicting all its delayed damage in an instant. It has a rather slow cooldown, but a very helpful support for encircling a crowd of bloons. It pairs well with external pierce buffs to improve its rather low pierce for the alluring aura.

Tips[]

  • Because hypnotised bloons trigger all DoT (damage-over-time) effects all at once, a high-damage DoT with many ticks of damage is optimal.
    • Bloon Liquefier is a great choice, as this specifically ensures that hypnotised Super Ceramics become basically no issue, no matter the chosen crosspath. If all damage-over-time effects are detonated on a Super Ceramic, the total damage to Super Ceramics is 330 with 4-x-0, though it should be noted that Alluring Melody has a cap of 200 damage, but still enough to one-shot Fortified Super Ceramics with default health.
  • Generally, towers that have low range or have a circular attack work well with this tower. Some stand-out options include Ice Monkey, Mortar Monkey, and Boomerang Monkey.
  • A single Alluring Melody isn't enough to hypnotise all Ceramics per mini-wave on Round 63 at a time, due to pierce-capping.
  • In terms of crosspathing, only 1-0-3 and 2-0-3 affect the Alluring Melody’s hypnotic attacks. However, 0-2-3 offers freezing of Bloons with tridents, which could possibly self-synergize with the unchanged hypnotic attacks.

  • Alluring Melody sort of acts like the Bloonchipper in that it forcefully moves bloons into a specific movement pattern.
  • The on-release attack design of Alluring Melody has a similar design to Downdraft in that it has a fast attack cooldown with 2 pierce but +1 Ceramic pierce penalty. But instead of blowing bloons away, Alluring Melody draws bloons towards the Mermonkey.
  • The speed at which bloons orbit around the alluring aura is determined by the code "speedMultiplier": 3.0.
  • For the Alluring Melody's aura triggers, AttackTrance02.wav is virtually identical to AttackTrance04.wav despite using unique sound files.
