Monkey Aces and Heli Pilots of Tier 3 or higher get +1 pierce per shot.
~ In-game description

Airforce Upgrades is an upgrade in the Military Monkey Knowledge tree. It increases the pierce of all Monkey Aces and Heli Pilots of Tier 3 and above by +1 (However, for unknown reasons, it can take effect on Tier 2 and below). It does not have a prerequisite Monkey Knowledge requirement.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

The extra pierce granted to Monkey Ace and Heli Pilot makes both of them more reliable for popping groups of bloons. It isn't as impactful as its naval counterpart, NavalUpgradesIcon Naval Upgrades, but nonetheless does add considerable pierce for the dart attacks of Ace and Heli in particular, especially given the massive amounts of projectiles they swarm in. Bear in mind that this is exclusive for Tier 3 and above Aces and Helis, so don't expect this to be too impactful for Ace early-games in Races aside improving black-popping reliability of Bomber Ace.

Tips[]

  • The cheapest T3 Ace is a Bomber Ace with no crosspaths.
  • The cheapest T3 Heli Pilot is a Razor Rotors with no crosspaths.

Version History[]

Airforce Upgrades was popularized for its insane power Race conditions with Ace starts being a wincon for early-game beginnings.

Ace balance early on has been problematic in some cases, instead of directly nerfing Ace we felt the most fair solution here was to instead nerf this knowledge point as it can interact in an extremely powerful way with how many projectiles these towers can produce at low upgrades.

  • NERF Airforce Upgrades Monkey Knowledge now only applies to T3 and above Helis and Aces
  • Change Description changed from "Monkey Ace and Heli Pilot get +1 pierce per shot." to "Monkey Aces and Heli Pilots of Tier 3 or higher get +1 pierce per shot."
  • BUFF [bug] Airforce Upgrades Monkey Knowledge can still take effect on Tier 2 and below.
