0-1-2 Airburst Darts
Airburst Darts is the 2nd upgrade of Path 3 for the Monkey Sub in Bloons TD Battles 2. It is similar to its BTD6 counterpart, except cheaper and with slightly different values for the crosspathing bonuses of alternate attacks when compared to the diverged BTD6 Version 28.0.
Airburst darts cause the main dart to become an impact that splits into three darts that can hit the same target, each airburst dart having 2 pierce. Airburst darts benefit from Barbed Darts, increasing pierce per airburst dart by +3, from 2 to 5 by default.
Submersion attacks gain 0.75x attack cooldown on top of Twin Guns, but the Ballistic Missile attack receives 0.90x (instead of none in BTD6) on top of Twin Guns. That would result in a total of +57% and +23% attack speed, respectively.
It costs $800, and is unlocked with the purchase of Monkey Sub.
Works well in the early-game, as it is highly effective against both early grouped and spaced bloons. While fairly costly, it excels in the early-game particularly when targeting is optimized.
Tips[]
Unlike BTD6, the 0-1-2 crosspath may be better overall compared to 2-0-2, as there are lots of bloons such that the bonus +3 pierce per airburst dart may suit better in Battles 2.
2-0-2 can be useful if it is far from the main action, however, and still has its use for shooting as much of that attack as possible provided range from other towers is provided.

Trivia[]
Airburst Darts cost alone and in terms of cumulative upgrades is cheaper than any other Sub with Airburst Darts throughtout the entire BTD series.
