“ | The sharp teeth of Adasaurus deal high short range damage that can tear through Lead. | ” |
~ In-game description |
Adasaurus is the second upgrade of Path 2 for the Beast Handler in Bloons TD 6. It replaces the Microraptor for an Adasaurus, which deals more damage and pierces more bloons. As an upgraded beast, the Adasaurus can increase its damage and pierce further by merging other dinosaurs from dino-handling Beast Handlers into it. As a Tier 2, Adasaurus can accept merges from other dinosaur beasts of less than or equal to its own tier, up to a maximum of 3 contributing Beast Handlers.
Each attack from the Adasaurus deals more damage and pierce, damage increasing from 1 to 3 and pierce increasing from 5 to 8. Additionally, Adasaurus attack gains the Normal damage type, allowing Lead-popping power. Maximum beast power increases from 1 to 6, and base has 3. Damage increases by 1 every degree and pierce increases by 4 every degree. Attack cooldown decreases linearly at a ratio of 0.3439s per 3 power. At max power, it attacks every 0.6561s.
This upgrade costs $705 on Easy, $830 on Medium, $895 on Hard, and $995 on Impoppable.
Description[]
Overview[]
When upgraded, the Adasaurus Handler controls an adasaurus instead of a microraptor, and the handler is further stylized to have an association with prehistoric life. The handler holds a curved stick with an orange bauble that has blue curvy stripes. On the stick, the middle of the bends of the stick each have red and orange stripes, going upwards. The stick also has white tape for gripping. Along with triangle markings on both sides of his forehead, the handler's hair is now pointed in the shape of a leaf. His scarf is now red-and-black horizontally, the bottom tufts are removed, and the top of the scarf has teeth sticking up. The handler now wears reddish pink pants, and has a rope around his waist.
The adasaurus is a small theropod that is related to the microraptor. Just like the Microraptor in-game, the Adasaurus in-game is shaped like a bipedal lizard in a similar way to most portrayals of theropods in popular media, rather than bird-like as suggested by life restoration models of Adasaurus mongoliensis and other related dinosaurs with known feather impressions. Adasaurus was also larger than Velociraptor. Adasaurus is a small blue theropod with white stripes along its neck, back, and tail. It has yellow eyes, is slightly thicker than the microraptor, has a purple mohawk, and now gains sabretooth-like canines from the top jaw. When idle, the adasaurus sometimes looks around or looks up showing its teeth. At max level, the Adasaurus gains an adornment of purple feathers on its tail and back.
The adasaurus chomps at bloons with its jaw, each bite dealing 3 damage onto up to 8 bloons each. It attacks at the same speed as the microraptor. Bites are strong enough to damage Frozen and Lead. If it has other beasts merged into the adasaurus, it gains more damage, pierce, and attack speed in a beast-powering formula.
Targeting Priorities[]
As an upgraded Beast Handler, the Adasaurus Handler controls a terrestrial beast. It controls an Adasaurus. The Adasaurus can be merged from weaker-tier terrestrial middle path beasts to add energy, empowering the Adasaurus via a network of other Beast Handlers. Alternatively, it can be merged into stronger-tier terrestrial beasts to transfer energy, empowering the stronger terrestrial beast in the process. This system utilises the Merge button to select a valid Beast Handler given sufficient energy capacity.
The Adasaurus has multiple styles of attack that follow basic targeting priorities.
- First: Targets the first bloon visible within its range.
- Last: Targets the last bloon visible within its range.
- Close: Targets the closest bloon visible within its range.
- Strong: Targets the strongest bloon visible within its range.
Additionally, the Adasaurus has a button "Place Beast" button that places the Adasaurus and repositions it anywhere within valid land place of the Beast Handler. Any contributing Beast Handlers will also grant range that allows repositioning of that beast.

Statistics[]
Updated as of Version 39.0
- Base Stats
- Handler:
- Passive type, automatically places a Adasaurus beast on valid land within 60 range. Adasaurus consumes 1 footprint and gains access to Adasaurus Bite. Can reposition the Adasaurus manually.
- Adasaurus Bite:
- Melee "projectile", normal type, 20 range, 1s attack cooldown, 3 damage, 8 pierce.
- Crosspathing interactions
Unlike the majority of towers in BTD6, the Beast Handler does not benefit from crosspathing. Each path spawns or upgrades a beast, rather than directly affecting the other crosspaths.
- Merging interactions
- Default Power: 3
- Min Power: 3
- Max Power: 6
- Bonus Stat Changes: Damage increases by 1 every 1 power, pierce increases by 4 every 1 power. At the default 3 power, starts with 3 damage and 8 pierce.

Strategy[]
Summary[]
Adasaurus is a high damage, low-ranged attacker with decent pierce and attack speed. Much of its value comes from breaking up stronger bloon into more manageable chunks. It is the lowest-tier Beast Handler that can pop Leads naturally, making it a great option for handling various types of early-game bloons and chip away at stronger bloons. Giving extra Beast Power to an Adasaurus is helpful for the bonus damage and pierce, assisting in penetrating more layers and work better against groups of bloons.
When compared to its preceding Tier 1, Microraptor, the Adasaurus isn't quite as effective against fast-moving spaced bloons compared to multiple Microraptors, though the Adasaurus is much more effective against strong bloon types and grouped bloon formations, because the Adasaurus can deal multiple layers of damage per chomp. With proper positioning, a single Adasaurus is able to excel in the early-game by chipping away at stronger bloons while other towers clear out the remains.
Tips[]
- Adasaurus can be used as a crosspath when needing to excel in the early-game and/or needing cheap Lead-popping, by placing it within tight locations.
- Slowdown such as Geraldo's Tube of Amaz-o-Glue allows Adasaurus to catch faster bloons more easily, especially given the Adasaurus's short range.
- Most use cases for Adasaurus only really need 5/6 to get through early-game; the 5 damage one-shots Pinks and already does a lot of layer-penetrating damage to bloons between the Black/White/Purple to Rainbow range, alongside a respectable gain of pierce and attack speed.
- 6/6 Adasaurus is helpful versus small clumps of stronger bloon types, one-shotting Blacks/Whites/Purples, piercing more bloons, and attacking much faster. Also, it destroys the insides of Ceramics in a minimum of 3 whole shots, rather than 3 and many dense clumps.
- Try to find a tight bend for Adasaurus to make up for its low range.
- In Race Events and CT Time Attack, the Adasaurus can be used for grouped damage if there are no other sensible starting options.

Balance Changes[]
Adasaurus's early-game value makes it prized for its high damage and cheap early-game potential while scaling it to have decent mid-game power.

“ | [...] The lower tiers on middle path Microraptor and Velociraptor are seeing all-round reductions as both have too high a base power and benefit too much from merges, gaining an overall greater attack speed benefit percentage-wise from merges than Trex does. [...] | ” |

- Adasaurus attack cooldown scale reduced (0.3439s → 0.3105s). Max Adasaurus attack cooldown increased from 0.5561s to 0.5895s.
- Adasaurus pierce decreased, base value decreased (10 → 8) and maximum value decreased (25 → 20)
- Adasaurus base pierce reduced (10 → 8)
- Adasaurus total range of pierce values decreased (15 → 12)

“ | Velociraptor performs as one of the most exceptional early tier upgrades in the game. We’ve been going tame on this path so far as we’re happy for it to stay one of the top options, however it is too far ahead still so we are smoothing out the attack rates to match T-rex. | ” |

- Adasaurus attack cooldown decreased. Min power cooldown increased from 0.9s to 1s, max power cooldown increased from 0.5895s to 0.6561s.
- Adasaurus attack delay increased (0.9s → 1s)
- Adasaurus max attack delay reduction from merge increased (0.3105s → 0.3439s)
“ | Beast Handler’s general repositioning feels far too free right now, the reposition cooldown is being increased to a more reasonably noticeable number so this feels like a meaningful cost. | ” |

- Beast Handler beast reposition cooldown decreased from 5s to 3s
- 42.0
“ | When first creating Beast Handler we balanced the T1-3 upgrade costs with a goal of creating a decision point between spending free playable space to save on cash or spending more cash to save on playable space. However in practice though some people have come on board with spending their playable space as a resource for more power; actual interest is much more divided between maximizing cost efficiency of these merges or simply using different towers. Given that spam of lower tier handlers already comes with the advantage of allowing them to be repositioned over a larger area, we’re changing our approach with a full cost rebalance across most T1-3 upgrades for exactly equal cost per point of merged beast power, instead leaving the nuance around understanding higher value merges & footprint advantage to depend more on discounts. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
- Adasaurus price reduced from $945 to $890
- 43.0
“ | In going over our large list of price changes for Beast Handler’s lower tiers in 42 this change was received very positively, however we did not realize that in making this change we killed off all chance of dual-beast handlers being used as a round 1 starting option for under $650 in hard modes – So we gotta do that math all over again and convert it for difficulty, painful 😀 All T1 beast prices changed to allow 110 & 101 beast handler combos to be placed for under $650 in hard mode, all T2 & T3 prices shifted around to keep these same cost ratios. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
- Adasaurus cost reduced from $890 to $830
- Total price adjustment is -$80, due to Microraptor (-$20)
“ | We’re slightly reducing beast reposition cooldown as the tiny range leaves movement very tight, which is especially painful for Microraptor path given the low range. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
- Beast Handler reposition cooldown reduced from 3s to 2s

Extra Notes (Version History)[]
- Version 42.0 changed the cost-per-power ratio of a whole 0-2-0 Beast to $445 per power, which is the same as a whole 0-1-0 Beast. This is one of the few instances in Version 42.0 which actually was "exact" in terms of cost adjustments for beast tiers.
- Version 43.0 changed the cost-per-power ratio of a whole 0-2-0 Beast again. Now, the ratios are no longer exact to a 0-1-0 Beast.
- Medium: $1335 → $1255; 445 / 1 power → 418.3333 / 1 power
