Absolute Zero on the map

Absolute Zero is the fifth and final upgrade of Path 2 for the Ice Monkey in Bloons TD Battles 2. Compared to the Absolute Zero's previous upgrade, Snowstorm, this upgrade comes with a much more powerful freezing ability that freezes and damages all bloon types for a full 10 seconds, and activating the Absolute Zero ability grants all Ice Monkeys and Fusty the Snowman (if applicable) on screen with +100% more attack speed for 10 seconds, and its ability cooldown is 20 seconds instead of 30 seconds. Ability's slowdown now also soaks through MOAB-class bloons. Absolute Zero, like most abilities in Bloons TD Battles 2, does not have an initial cooldown.

Additionally, its main attack can freeze up to 300 bloons instead of 100, it has +10 increased range compared to Snowstorm for a total of 40 units, it can directly attack MOAB-class bloons (but not freeze them), and all its freezing attacks can penetrate 4 layers instead of 2. When crosspathed with Permafrost, every attack to MOAB-class bloons will apply a 25% speed reduction on hit (including with the ability) and aura slows all nearby bloons 80% instead of 50%.

It costs $18,000, and is unlocked with the other tier 5 Ice Monkey upgrades for Monkey Money1500.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

An on-demand blimp slowdown that can also improve speed of Ice Monkeys and Snowpat. It is an incredible source of both slowdown and snow-specific buffs.

Tips[]

  • The 1-5-0 and 2-5-0 crosspaths applies Permafrost effect to blimps, while the 0-5-2 crosspath has wider freeze range and can re-freeze bloons.
  • If using a Snowpat strategy, use the AZ ability to boost his stuns and knockback.

Version History[]

Initial release (compared to BTD6 during Version 28.0)
  • Released
???
  • BUFF Absolute Zero: Increase the amount bloons are slowed from 60% → 70%
1.1.0
  • BUFF XP requirements halved (27,500 → 13,750)
1.4.0
  • BUFF x5x Absolute Zero: Increase the amount bloons are slowed from 70% → 80%
1.5.0
  • BUFF No longer requires 13,750 XP to unlock. Players who have unlocked this upgrade before the update will not receive a full refund, as well as unlock all Tier 5 Ice Monkey upgrades.
  • Change Absolute Zero now costs 1,500 Monkey Money instead of XP.
3.2
  • BUFF Absolute Zero's ability Ice Monkey attack speed buff bonus increased (1.5x → 2.0x)
  • BUFF Absolute Zero's ability now also buffs Fusty the Snowman
Absolutely Zero’s buff to Ice Monkeys is one interesting and obscure feature that many people may not know about, especially since the buff was not particularly significant. We have made this buff much more noticeable and included Fusty the Snowman so that it’ll hopefully now receive some more attention.

3.3.2
  • BUFF Absolute Zero: $20k → $18k
While Ice Monkey is not in a bad spot, we do want to encourage its usage a bit more and so we’re providing it with a couple small buffs. Snowstorm’s ability buffing Ice Monkeys was actually unintended, however we didn’t feel like it needed to be fixed and so we decided to keep, with a reduced duration to match the ability’s freeze duration.
~ Ninja Kiwi
4.2
  • BUFF Ability slows down MOABs/BFBs/DDTs to 5 → 2.25 speed (the same speed as it sets ZOMGs to)
  • BUFF Ability's speed modifier now soaks through MOAB-class bloons
Absolute Zero lacks utility, not offering enough for its cost. We have added another benefit of using it [...] in order to encourage Ice Monkey’s usage.

Trivia[]

  • Absolute Zero is the first upgrade in alphabetical order in this game.
  • In an unknown update after the Snowstorm buff to buffing Ice Monkeys and Fusty the Snowman, the original description was changed "Ability freezes all regular Bloons for longer, including White, Zebra and Camo, slows MOAB-class longer, and increases the attack speed of all Ice Monkeys." to "Ability freezes all bloons for longer."
