2 Megapops
Complete a game of CHIMPS with more than 2 million damage dealt by one tower.
~ BTD6 achievement description

2 MegaPops is an achievement in Bloons TD 6, first released in Version 14.0. It is achieved by winning CHIMPS Mode whereby one tower exceeds the 2 million damage count. Earning this achievement will reward 1 Monkey Boost and 1 Time Stop.

Strategy[]

2 MegaPops, or known better as 2MPC (2 Million Pops CHIMPS) in the BTD6 community,[1] is all about letting a single tower achieve the maximum damage possible. The key is to choose a single tower/hero that has consistently high DPS and can synergize well with supports. Normally, the early-game shouldn't be too much of a problem to start off a 2MPC, given that these pops can be safely ignorable once the single main DPS option arrives and receives the maximum supports possible. Ideally, the chosen tower/hero must be able to destroy both single-targets and grouped targets effectively once given the maximum numbers of buffs possible in a CHIMPS game.

For purposes of simply completing the achievement, use a Tier 5 tower or a purely DPS-oriented hero. Conventional support-oriented towers generally will be a nuisance for this achievement, but slows such as MOAB Glue and Bloon Sabotage will do very minimal damage, if not zero damage. Other supports such as Submerge and Support are very useful, given that a single Sub start can be done while submerging later to intentionally avoid pops from that Sub. Stronger Stimulant and Overclock are ideal to add, but they must be as far away from the main action as possible while still able to support the main DPS tower. Certain supports that are not normally used in typical CHIMPS games such as Call To Arms or Homeland Defense are recommended to further push the power of the main DPS tower.

Tips[]

  • There is a community list of 2MPC challenges that have been already completed. There are a wide variety of different options to pick, but bear in mind that there are a wide number of rather difficult options too. Instead, for the sake of completing the in-game achievement, pick a tower based on the list of suitable towers below.
  • The easiest way to complete this achievement is to play on any of the easiest maps (especially Logs, Cubism, Resort) with any powerful relatively low-cost towers. These include, but are not limited to: 3-0-2 or 3-2-0 Sun Avatar, 2-0-5 The Tack Zone, 2-0-4 Spectre, or 2-5-0 Pirate Lord. Some towers with a higher pricetag can be utilized too, as they can be easily upgradable later in the game, including: 2-4-0 Tech Terror, 5-0-2 Apache Prime, 5-0-1 or 5-0-2 Sky Shredder, 2-5-0 or 0-5-2 Perma Charge, and 2-5-0 Tsar Bomba.
    • For the easiest 2MPCs possible, try 3-2-0 or 3-0-2 Sun Avatar, 5-0-2 Apache Prime, 0-2-5 Bloon Exclusion Zone, or 2-5-0 Tsar Bomba.
  • Useful support towers that do not cause stolen pops include: 3-0-0 Submerge and Support, 1-0-3 (just don't get Corrosive Glue), 0-1-3 or 0-2-3 MOAB Glue, 1-3-0 or 0-3-2 Glue Hose, x-3-x Monkey Intelligence Bureau, and x-x-2 Monkey Commerce (for discounting the prior mentioned towers).
  • Other useful support towers that can be used have the potential to steal pops from the key 2MP tower, but they can be safely moved away as far from the map as possible. These towers include: 0-4-0 Bloon Sabotage, 0-4-0 Overclock, and 4-x-x Stronger Stimulant. For Stronger Stimulant, ensure to place it as close enough to the key 2MP tower as possible while still being as far from the map as possible.
    • The upgrade of Bloon Sabotage, Grand Saboteur, while better at slowing down bloons, is not recommended for this achievement because its blimp damaging effect will add the reduced blimp health as damage count to itself (For example, when used on the B.A.D. at Round 100, the tower will instantly get 7,000 pops), stealing a lot of pops from rounds with heavy blimp rushes that is otherwise useful in other runs.
  • All other towers' damage counts must add up to less that 42,693 total pops, assuming no bloons have regrown.

Trivia[]

  • This achievement was based on a community challenge called "2 Million Pops CHIMPS", often abbreviated to 2MPC. The only difference is that the community version strictly prohibits Regrow Farming for achieving 2MPC.
    • If Regrow Farming was allowed, certain towers such as Ring of Fire would theoretically be able to be on the community 2MPC list.
  • On Version 19.0, there was a bug where the pop counts of all towers were bugged; sometimes a game would calculate a total of less than 2 million damage despite the total RBE between Rounds 6 to 100 being at least 2 million. This was fixed as of Version 19.1.
  • There are a total of 118 different unique 2MPC combos in the BTD6 Index as of 18th January 2021.
    • And just a matter of fact, 2MPC combos with 32 different towers/heroes were done on Expert Maps, with 60 possible combinations done in total if alternate map combos are taken into account.
    • According to the BTD6 Index, combos with Quad, #Ouch, Bloody Puddles, and Ravine are not yet completed.
  • All combos listed on the BTD6 Index have either a combo initially completed on Cubism or an alt-map on Cubism except for various towers that have been completed recently. Two long-undone towers achieved Cubism prior to Version 31.0:
    • Ultra-Juggernaut (due to the lack of obstacles, though Logs was done due to the logs, but possible on Cubism due to using Geraldo)
    • Bloon Crush (extremely difficult even before the 25.0 Impact damage nerf, was impossible until Version 31.0's Crush buff with 5-0-2 crosspath)
  • It was entirely plausible to complete this achievement by creating a Regrow Farm back when those were still possible, but this was not a recommended way to earn this achievement. Either way, regrown bloons no longer add to a tower's pop count as of Version 38.0.

Notes[]

  1. Strictly speaking, the 2 MegaPops achievement and the 2MPC community challenge have fundamental differences in definition. The achievement requires a tower to beat CHIMPS with over 2 million pops, while a 2MPC run instead requires that other towers' pop counts should not add up to more than 42,693. This community definition sifts away extraneous Regrow Bloon pops and mitigates some bugs causing pop counts to malfunction.
